ServSafe™ course
South Dakota food service establishments are required to have at least one person on staff who has passed an 8-hour food service training and certification program. Every four years this certificate needs to be renewed. This standard is now met by taking a four hour approved re-certification course.

The ServSafe™ course is offered by the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service at several locations across the state. Passing the course, which was developed by the National Restaurant Association and approved by the South Dakota Department of Health, certifies or re-certifies you as meeting state safety license qualifications.

The following subjects are addressed:
" Food safety practices throughout the flow of food from purchasing to serving to reheating leftovers.
" Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP)
" Developing a food safety program for your food service operation

Why Attend
South Dakota food service establishments are required to have at least on person on staff who has passed an 8-hour food service training and certification program. The South Dakota Department of Health has approved the ServSafe" Course for certification.

Registration Fees
" $90 to 100 (depending on location) if registered on time (includes course book)
" Additional fee for late registration
" $55.00 if you already have the book. (The book is called ServeSafe" Essentials)
" $35.00 - 40.00 Retaking exam (not participating)
" $25.00 Sit in on class (if class is not full). This also qualifies for recertification.

Register Now
Registration deadline is normally 2 weeks prior to course. Course will be cancelled if less than 10 participants are registered. Refunds will be given if course is cancelled, participants may transfer to another location. If participant cancels and course books have been sent, refund will not be granted. You may send someone in your place. Course books are mailed the day of the registration deadline.

OFFICIAL PICTURE ID is required at all courses when registering.
